Yutai Optics’s extensive portfolio of optical components comprises custom-made Homogenizing Rods, which are particularly suitable for use with Fluorescence Imaging systems – particularly within the medical industry for applications such as fluorescence illumination, microscopy and imaging. What's more, our Homogenizing Rods are also used for surgical procedures within systems that are designed to help identify which tissues have been exposed to the fluorescent indicator.
Homogenizing Rods operate via the light source, which enters the pipe at a variety of incident angles. They are designed to utilise their total internal reflection and to channel light from the entrance to the exit. The material’s refractive index is the only factor which affects the optic’s critical angle; this defines the angle of acceptance which the total internal reflection will occur at.
Manufactured from BK7 (or equivalent) or UV Grade Fused Silica and in a range of shapes – including tapered, hexagonal, simple squares and rectangular cross-sections – Homogenizing Rods help to distribute light within these medical devices evenly.
Only available as custom-made optics for seamless integration with your project, our Homogenizing Rods meet a diverse range of requirements sought by a diverse range of systems. By opting for tailor-made optical components, you can specify the shape, size, optical coating and tolerances best suited to your project.
